A Formal Recap of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Berlin Yacht Club

To the esteemed members of the Berlin Yacht Club, both past and present,

We are delighted to provide a formal summary of the highly successful 75th Anniversary celebration, which took place on July 19, 2025. The event was a testament to the club's enduring legacy and vibrant community.

A total of 93 individuals were in attendance, including 21 distinguished Past Commodores, some of whom represented the club's earliest decades. It was a truly remarkable gathering, bringing together leaders from the 1970s through the 2020s. We were honored to have many of the Past Commodores' spouses in attendance, as well as two widows of former Commodores.

A special note of thanks goes to the former junior members, including one who remains an active member today. The event drew attendees from across the country, with guests traveling from Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, in addition to many from within Ohio. It was truly inspiring to witness the rekindling of old friendships and the forging of new connections. Current members expressed a great sense of appreciation in meeting those who laid the foundation for the club decades ago. We are grateful for their foundational contributions to the club's success, which have ensured its viability for future generations.

We extend our sincere thanks to every individual who contributed to the club's success over the years, ensuring its viability for future generations.

We wish to express our profound gratitude to Bob & Evelyn Farr and Ken & Lesa Miller for their exceptional work, leadership, and encouragement in planning and executing this momentous celebration.

We also thank all members who contributed financially or by bringing appetizers, which were enjoyed by all. The grilled hot dogs were a particular hit, as was the beautiful anniversary cake. The flowers, decorations, and historical displays of old jib sheets and photographs were a highlight, sparking many wonderful conversations. We are grateful to all the members who generously volunteered their time to pre-clean the grounds, set up chairs, tents, and games, prepare and serve food, and assist with cleanup. A special acknowledgment goes to Jim McGill for the embroidered hats presented to each Past Commodore. Commemorative hats are still available for purchase at $15 each, and wooden engraved coasters are $5 each.

It was our distinct pleasure to organize this monumental occasion for the Berlin Yacht Club. The event provided valuable learning experiences that will inform our planning for future club gatherings.

Let us all continue to work together to ensure the Berlin Yacht Club remains a vibrant, safe, and friendly community for many more years to come—perhaps even for another 75 years!

Sincerely,

Ron & Becky Craig 2025 Commodore
